The major objectives of this study are to obtain
a profile of young people who become involved in Internet
activities, find out about the kind of data they have access to,
and its effect on them. The findings of the study reveal that
young people are widely exposed to computers and information
technology, yet the proportion using Internet is not high and
their self-rated computer knowledge is low. A portion of young
people have intentionally or accidentally encountered obscene
articles and pornographic materials via Internet and other
electronic medium. There are also thorough discussions on
regulation of Internet, problems in law enforcement, the balance
between freedom of information and protection of young people. A
very current and timely youth study in Hong Kong.
