The role of the Hong Kong Government is particularly important in the last stage of the transitional period and to prepare its way to the handover of sovereignty to China. This study shows that young people think the major task of the Government is to ensure a smooth transition and social stability. Opinion of Hong Kong citizens should be listen to more as well. About half of the respondents think the transparency of the Hong Kong Government is not very high. Yet they think the Government perform best in economy, law and order, and education.
