This survey reveals that 63 per cent of the respondents thought that it was more important to learn English than Chinese. The biggest difficulty in learning English are inadequacies in grammar, difficulty in vocabulary and difficulty in speaking English. It finds out that a majority (64.5%) of the respondents rarely speak English in school and 43.3% of them rarely read. It is recommended that reading should be encouraged as a method to improve young peopleˇ¦s command of languages.
