Youth Opinion Polls No32

Young People and Discrimination

This survey reveals that most of the respondents thought that discrimination was a problem in Hong Kong, though few regarded it as a very serious problem. Race, sex, disability, occupation and age are the grounds on which discrimination is the most serious in Hong Kong. Nearly 30 per cent of the respondents would not accept community support services to operate near their homes, though 95 per cent think it is necessary for society to provide these facilities for the people with special needs. Two-third agreed public or school education should be taken by the Government to eliminate discrimination.
