Most students in Hong Kong are concerned with the quality of teaching for their teachers and think "teaching well" is the most important criterion of a good teacher and "always scolding or punishing students" is the main reason of being regarded as a bad teacher. 58 per cent of the students think Hong Kong students do not respect teachers today. Over 70 per cent disclosed that their academic performance of the relevant subjects are affected when they find the teacher is good or bad. Over two-thirds of the students, however, reported they came across more good than bad teachers in the past two years.
