The family has long been the basic unit of society and this is especially true of Chinese society. This survey shows that young people are generally satisfied with their present family life and also the relationship between their parents. Most of them indicate that they find a model in one or other of their parents. It also reflects that young people today are increasingly independent and barely attached to their family. Yet they concern about the quality of family life and some youngsters have had intention to remain childless.
