New thinking, new inspiration and new perceptions are emerging from the tremendous new developments in information technology. Research work to generate evidence, and develop an analytical base, is imperative when it comes to understanding the needs and situation of today’s young people in this ever-changing era. The HKFYG Youth Research Centre (YRC) strives to conduct research for the betterment of young people.
Since its establishment in 1993, the YRC has continuously conducted systematic and scientific research work. The YRC has completed more than 350 research reports over the past 20 years. These reports provide a useful reference for the formulation of polices related to youth issues and the planning of youth services. Currently the YRC mainly focuses on two research projects, including Journal of Youth Studies Series, and Hong Kong Youth Trend Series.
To expand its mission of youth engagement in research, the YRC has established Youth I.D.E.A.S. since 2015. The Youth I.D.E.A.S. has completed 24 research reports over the past two years.
