Youth Research Centre

New thinking, new inspiration and new perceptions are emerging from the tremendous developments in information technology. Research work to generate evidence and develop an analytical base is imperative when it comes to understanding the needs and situation of today’s young people in this ever-changing era. The HKFYG Youth Research Centre (YRC) strives to conduct research for the betterment of young people.

Since its establishment in 1993, the YRC has continued to conduct systematic and scientific research work. It has completed more than 400 research reports over the past 30 years including the Youth Trends in Hong Kong series and the Journal of Youth Studies series. These reports provide a useful reference for the formulation of polices related to youth issues and the planning of youth services.

To expand its mission of youth engagement in research, the YRC established a local youth think tank: Youth I.D.E.A.S. (Ideals, Dedication, Engagement, Aspirations and Service) in 2015. With the support of YRC, Youth I.D.E.A.S. has conducted 70 research reports in the areas of youth development, economic development, governance, education, and livelihood, and advocates policy alternatives for the betterment of Hong Kong.
