The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) established Youth I.D.E.A.S. in 2015 as a local-youth think tank. Youth I.D.E.A.S. conducts evidence-based research for policy advocacy and, since its establishment, has completed over 70 such research projects communicating actively with policymakers and different sectors of society.
The new term of Youth I.D.E.A.S. (2023-2025) comprises nearly 80 young professionals, entrepreneurs and post-secondary school students, with five academics and experts as advisors.
Youth I.D.E.A.S. serves as a unique platform for young people to engage in and exchange ideas on issues that concern them through open discourse, promoting and suggesting policy alternatives to enable the sustained development of Hong Kong.
With the support of the HKFYG Youth Research Centre, Youth I.D.E.A.S. will conduct research on a regular basis in the areas of (1) Employment and the Economy, (2) Youth Development and Engagement, and (3) Society and Livelihood. Under the theme of "Connecting Community and Creating Impact through Research and Advocacy", the new term of Youth I.D.E.A.S. hopes to connect local youth, communities and wider society to further improve social change through research and action.
