Under the rapid development of the society and the improvement of our quality of life, the definition of ‘health’ has been transformed. Health no longer solely means the absence of diseases and has been developed into a conception of whole person wellness which refers to physical, emotional, spiritual and social well-being. Youth is the new force in our society. Since whole person wellness could help young people overcome difficulties and challenges, understanding and promoting youth wellness is crucial.
The theme of this issue is “Whole Person Wellness”. Scholars and professionals examined the Hong Kong youth’s health nowadays in various areas, including overweight, sports, smoking, emotional wellness, positive education and suicide. They also identified the challenges of the development of youth wellness and give recommendations on promoting wellness among young people.
Apart from whole person wellness, STEM education is also an important youth issue. STEM is an acronym of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. In the recent years, STEM education has gained popularity around the globe for cultivating STEM talents. The topic for pan-Chinese Societies Exchange is the implementation of STEM education in schools. In this section, authors discuss the development of STEM education in the Chinese societies. Also, they provide important insight into the similarities and differences in the way the STEM education being implemented.
